The brass lion-ring gallery to the back is an immediately striking detail, lending the piece a sculptural quality that lifts it well above the ordinary. Below, the concave central section — a hallmark of the Regency taste for elegant curves — features a panelled frieze drawer above delicate spandrel brackets, the whole composition beautifully balanced and considered.
To each side, a panelled fitted celerette drawer and cupboard speak to the piece's original purpose: the gracious service of wine and spirits at the Regency dining table. The celerette drawer in particular is a feature that collectors and connoisseurs actively seek out. Framing the whole are fluted turned tapering legs — refined, precise, and entirely in keeping with the period's love of classical detail.
